The museum is in the heart of the old town at a magnificent century-old mansion. The mansion faces Yazd’s famous Amir Chakhmaq Complex. Two underground water canals (qanats) run beneath the mansion. The canals give visitors some insight into the qanat network as well as the history of water supply in Yazd.

It exhibits a plethora of photographs depicting locals digging qanats, water-associated objects and tools used in the digging. Beside the informative water museum, the mansion itself flaunts astonishing mirror-work and also delicate plaster-work.
