NATIONAL MUSEUM IN IRAN
The first museum in iran was constructed in 1934 by the order of Reza shah and inagurated in 1937.the architect of buiding was a french man Andere godard . the building is constructed in 3 floors with dark red bricks.the bricks are used to reflect the Sassanian architecture. Since the design of a museum should be revelent to the theme and the objects inside it . as well as being linked to the history and the art of that land , therefore the fecade and the entrance of the museum were both made in the same style of * Taq -e- kasra * that was in Ctesiphon (tisphon) in iraq of today which was the capital of iran for 600 years , during the time of parthians and Sassanians (051-651) A.D .
It was known as the Iran Bastan museum ( ancient Iran museum ) at the beginning , but later in 1996 they moved all the islamic objecs to a seperate building next to that , since , that time the name of complex changed to national museum .
National museum is including not only history and prehistory museum, but also visitor can visit many wonderful objects and handicrafts in islamic museum . it is very important to say that no object has been bought to be exhibited in this museum . pre islam objects in national museum are located in 2 floors building. And it is recommended to start visiting from the second floor , because the objects of this floor date back to lower Palcolithic period . the collection in the lower part comprises many pottery , vessels , in different colors black , red , and buff . bone and alabaster made tools and objects and bronz materials are dazzeling the eyes of the visitors some of objects date back to 4000 years B.C . in the Achamenid section you can see the nice original relief one of the Acamenian king who is listening to the report of the vip person in national dress who has a round hat and a tunic on , all the objects in this section is brought from persepolis and also from susa . the last part of the museum belong to Sassanian era from 3th to 7th century A.D .
Sassanian empire was defeated through the Arab invasions in 651 A.D.
